The Samsung SCH A890 (Verizon Wireless) Cell Phone
Something different from Samsung, the SCH A890 has a long list of high end features, and yet it doesn't quite cater to the business users. Also, due to its great features and usability it does seem a little pricey at first but with an account with Verizon Wireless you should be able to get a good deal on it.
The style of the SCH A890 is similar to other Samsung mobile phones. It has a traditional silver clamshell design and while it might feel a little heavier than it looks, it's still not too heavy as the phone feels solid and comfortable in your hand. The color display for the phone is also gorgeous and just great for viewing photos, videos and enjoying 3D games.
One of the main selling points of the SCH A890 is how it is compatible with the Verizon Wireless V Cast service offering streaming video content. But apart from that there is so much more to the cell phone. Doing away with VGA cameras, the Samsung SCH A890 has a 1.3-megapixel camera integrated into it. It's actually set into the handset's hinge and swivels so you can take self portraits. Whats cute about the cell is the ‘ready sound' that plays just before you take the picture. Besides the usual “say cheese” you have 3 other voice commands or you can turn off this feature altogether. Apart from taking pictures the mobile is also capable of taking short 15 second video clips.
Apart from being a multimedia mobile, the Samsung SCH A890 can also send out text and multimedia messages and its GPRS enabled which means that you'll have wireless WAP access on the Verizon Wireless network. Voice dialing and phone personalization are also included in this cell phone's list of features. Sadly though, it seems to be missing speakerphone capabilities and surprisingly, the phone is not Bluetooth capable.
Using the Verizon Wireless network, sound quality was generally good and clear during calls. There were moments though when the phone didn't have reception at all but those were few and far in between. Lastly the battery provided with the Samsung SGH A890 was quite impressive. You should be able to make as many calls or view as many streaming videos as you like without needing to charge up the battery on a frequent basis.
